Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
